Bio

Bezl LaBonte is a self-taught artist. Born in 1968 in Brunswick,Maine, Bezl started his artistic journey with music. Spending his summers in southern Maine gazing off the side of lobster boats working with salty captains inspired him to pursue a career in art. Growing up in Maine gave Bezl an appreciation for his majestic surroundings and he attended the University of Maine at Augusta school of arts and science. Soon after graduation, Bezl moved to Florida and started to paint.  Bezl's style was not normal, he used spray paint and odd shaped tools to create space scenes. What started on the beach doing small wall hangers soon evolved into tables and tripped out chill rooms. It wasnt until Bezl was introduced to the djembe drum that he realized he could carve. Hopping around the country from festival to festival, drumming like crazy, Bezl slowly started carving drums and one day he decided he wanted to carve a woman.  Indulging in the fantasy world of self expression, Bezl has become an imaginative sculptor who is driven by an incredible passion for self-expression through art. His works are often noted for their unique style, elegance, and sexiness. Bezl's work, which began 15 years ago, has evolved into abstract expressionism.
